Know the tune
before you play it.
Listen repeatedly, find the pulse and tonal centre, then notice the big melody notes and chord changes. Play along quietly before trying to fill every space.
This library is growing. The first recordings have been selected for their musical value, clear accompaniment or usefulness in lessons. Downloadable PDFs, MuseScore files and other student materials will be added gradually.

Stay with one recording
Use headphones and let the recording repeat. Tap the pulse. Listen for the first and last notes of each phrase. Find the moments where the harmony has to move.
When you pick up the guitar, begin with less: one dependable rhythm and the large chord changes. The detail becomes easier once the shape of the tune is familiar.
